What Is the Myopia Control Clinic?
The New England College of Optometry Myopia Control Clinic uses the latest research-based treatments for controlling myopia. Instances of myopia are on the rise and the goal of the clinic is to slow or even stop the progression of myopia in children. Learn more about myopia.
The Myopia Control clinic offers four evidence-based treatments shown to be effective for many children that have been developed in the last decade. Our doctors have academic appointments at New England College of Optometry and research backgrounds. They will perform advanced testing to determine the best treatment method for each child and work with families to customize a treatment plan for their child.

Who Is a Prospective Myopia Control Patient?
The Myopia Control Clinic might be right for children and young adults with one or more of the following criteria:
- Two myopic parents
- Refractive error of either low hyperopia or low myopia
- Limited time spent outside
- Excessive near work
The NECO Myopia Control Clinic provides new treatments based on the latest research that not only help improve vision but control the myopia by slowing or stopping eye growth. In the last decade, four promising treatments have been shown to be effective for some children: orthokeratology (OrthoK) contact lenses, multifocal contact lenses, bifocal eyeglasses or PALS, and low dose atropine eye drops.
