
Dr. Anita Gulmiri is an attending optometrist at New England College of Optometry (NECO) Center for Eye Care Commonwealth and an assistant professor of optometry at the New England College of Optometry.
Dr. Gulmiri’s clinical area of expertise is in Cornea and Contact lens. She specializes in fitting and managing both routine contact lens as well as specialty design lenses for the treatment of irregular corneal conditions and ocular surface disease such as keratoconus, post- penetrating keratoplasty, aphakia, and severe cases of dry eye, among many other corneal conditions. Dr. Gulmiri also has a special interest in myopia control and the use of orthokeratology among other options to slow myopia progression.
Dr. Gulmiri graduated with a Bachelor of Science, honors with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2011. She then continued to pursue her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, followed by a residency in Cornea and Contact Lens. In 2015, Dr. Gulmiri received the Gas Permeable Lens Institute for clinical excellence.
Dr. Gulmiri’s clinical and research interests include anterior segment disease including dry eye, myopia control, and managing keratoconus and irregular corneas with specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Gulmiri is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association- Cornea & Contact Lens Section, the Scleral Lens Education Society, and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. She has served on an international mission trip to provide free eye care to patients in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity) and hopes to continue to offer her time and knowledge to this noble cause.
