New England Eye Participates in Holiday Celebration for Homeless Families

While the weather outside may have been windy and cold, the atmosphere inside the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center this past Sunday was festive and warm. There was a buzz in the air as 4,500 children and 1,500 adults came together on December 20, 2015 to celebrate Christmas in the City. The participants, all from local area shelters and temporary housing, enjoyed a holiday party complete with a visit from Santa and gifts donated by the community. New England Eye Provides Screenings to Boston Public Schools

As part of an initiative between New England College of Optometry (NECO) and the Boston Public Schools (BPS), faculty and students assist in vision screenings for Boston’s youngest students (ages 3 – 6). As a clinical affiliate of the College, New England Eye helps to provide services to the community through its mobile clinic. To help educate families about the importance of eye care and provide eye screenings, New England Eye staff and NECO faculty and students participate in the Countdown to Kindergarten program, an annual series of events sponsored by the Boston Public Schools (BPS) for school children entering kindergarten.
